Surveyor 291 coupler height

What is the level height to the bottom of a coupler on a Surveyor 291? I need to drive out of state to pick one up and I need to know what hitch mount to bring. Thanks for the help.

Towing a 30 foot trailer that weighs over 5000 pounds empty, with a tongue weight of over 500 pounds, I would highly recommend a load leveling hitch and some sway control. You didn't mention your tow vehicle, but even a 1 ton dually will not handle this trailer properly without a proper hitch. Since you mentioned out of state, you'll probably be towing interstate, where a proper setup is even more important. But if you must carry on, almost all trailers have a hitch height between 18 and 20 inches, when level.

On order

Thank you Windrider, I have a Reese straight-line stabilizer with sway control on order (eTrailer 66073), but I don't think I will get it in time for the pick-up. Thus the reason for this post. However, I hope you are wrong about the height being 20", that would mean I ordered the wrong shank...not enough drop. Doh! Therefore, a measurement by someone from the actual model would still be appreciated.

I will be pulling it with a Ford Expedition with the 5.4L V8.

With your advice, I may ask my friends if I can borrow their WD hitch setup for the trip. Necessity breeds invention.

One more thing, I asked the dealer for the measurement, but I am not getting my hopes up that they will actually measure it for me, or correctly. Yet another reason I posted this question to this fine forum.

The coupler height on my 2007 SV291 is 18 1/2 inches level. I hope this helps.

18 1/2". Excellent. Thank you, gentlemen, for your help. Although I have the wrong shank on order.

Trouble averted. You have got to love eTrailer. Not only did they change my order to replace my shank without issue, they expedited it to make sure I would get it before I left to collect my new Surveyor. Nice!
