Suspension Recommendation

Hello,
My TV is a 14 Ram 1500 with 5.7L/8 speed, and pull a '16 VIBE at 5300 lbs. the rear of the Ram drops about 1 inch when towing with the Blue Ox hitch, and VIBE is level.

Do I need any kind of suspension upgrade? Seems to tow OK, but have not traveled a long distance yet. Was thinking about the Air Lift bags with fit into the coils, and the cost is reasonable.

Appreciate the advice from all you experts :-)

I don't understand why people think that the rear of there truck should not go down at all when they hook up several hundred pounds to it. A one inch sag is not much with the ram. I find it does not take much weight to get my ram to sag one or 2 inches it stiffens up after that. There is a reason they make these truck high in the back when unloaded.

You should be fine with only one inch. If you find the the rear of the truck moves around more then feels comfortable then you can look into stiffer tires ( limited choice if you have 20's) or you can add air bags.

One inch drop should not be an issue. If it drops to 3 inches (like my Tundra did) look into suspension assistance. I installed sumosprings in the rear and helped out tremendously and no maintance required. Keep in mind, I did that because between tongue weight and payload I am always at my max weight. Just added them to get more level.

I drop about 3 inches without the Blue Ox bars attached. I think I'm a OK, just want to make sure. If I could optimize my setup and get more stability for $100 bucks, it would be worth it. BTW, ranting is fine. I don't take it personal - lol. Thanks...

To me if the steering fells light and people are flashing you their high beams at night when your low beams lights are on. Than you need to raise the rear end to put more load on the front end and lower the head lights. Other wise you are OK and you do not need air bags!
