Rear kitchen layouts do affect the tongue weight negatively. Many trailer manufacturers know that so they place the axles appropriately to start the trailer with the tongue weight being a little heavier. The same is true for toy haulers.

As for the hitch, both the Equalizer and Dual-Cam NEED adequate tongue weight to function properly. The lighter the tongue weight, the less effective they become.

TRUE ENOUGH!! A double whammy. More weight on the rear tends to induce sway while reducing the effectiveness of some anti-sway devices (unless it is a friction bar for example)
