Sway control broke off

Camping world transfered my hitch to new 8329ss. Put sway control ball mount on with 1/4 20 self tappers. Self tappers heads are smaller than holes in mounting plate. Just pulled right through. Did last about 3000 miles.

Thats a lot of TT for a sway control like that. Did CW use the original bolts from the original TT? I would certainly think they would use new bolts. I would think the bolts would be at 3/8" bolts. Hopefully they make it right!

I replaced the bolts with 3/8. Don't know when it broke. Was traveling from Hilton Head to Charleston, SC up I95. Was windy. 25 to 30 mph gusts. Trailer towed like normal no sway. Just a little movement when trucks passed

My guess is they used the old hardware. I bought the EAZ Lift Sway Control - Right Side just like yours and I guarantee it isn't coming loose. I followed the instructions to the letter for the sway arm, I assume it was a CW error. There is a point in the video where I say 11/36 bit but I corrected later to 11/32 drill bit.

I just installed the same sway control on mine. 1/4" tapping bolts don't use a 1/4" drill ,its 1/32 smaller, same with 3/8". Silicone behind the plate and in the bolt holes might help reduce the corrosion already apparent in the photo.

I didn't use mine on my last trip. I towed about 400 miles with never a swing or sway. I had it with me and decided to not use it unless I started feeling some instability... never happened.

Should have been installed with the 3/8" bolts furnished. I always tack welded mine in 4 places. Used the sway control on both sides.
