Tail lights on Toad

Looking for information on the requirements for tail/turn/stop lights on our toad. Will be using a tow dolly, which has lights already. Do I still have to use something on the car? If yes, I'd appreciate any feedback or suggestions as to wiring the car vs. Using a removable light bar on the back. Thanks.

A guy I know tows a new Ford pickup behind his MH and the Ford dealer just added another double filament socket to the existing tail light buckets, ran wires thru the frame to the front bumper where the put a short jumper from the truck to the MH and they look great and no additional things to put on the truck or store when camping. Neat idea even if it did come from a Ford dealer.

Can only speak for the east coast. The light bar is all you need and in most cases if your driving during the day the lights on the tow dolly are acceptable.

Are you towing the Acadia? I've towed my Grand Cherokee and the weight was just to much for the coach. I still tow it when we are going to the shore (180 round trip) but anything further I tow a 2014 Passat. The Acadia list at around 4850 curb weight, just something to think about.I saw in one of your previouis posts you are familiar with dirving big rigs so chances are you know more then me about the subject. Enjoy and have safe travels.

The coach is 41' with a Cummins 340 HP diesel. It has a 5000 lb hitch, so I may be close to that, but believe I should be OK. I suppose only time will tell. I think the most important thing is that the tow dolly has brakes. I'll report back in the spring for anyone who might be interested.

afd51, Have a great winter and we'll be looking forward to your post in the spring. I tow with all four down and I have to tell you I love having the Passat with us. It took some workings to get taillights hooked up but I couldn't be more pleased. I hope you have as much success as we have had. Enjoy, and Merry Christmas.
