Tekonsha P3

So I currently have a Prodigy brake controller, but I think it is going bad. I am looking at getting a P3 but I have read several complaints that there are a lot of bad ones that get sent out and the customer has to return them for a new one. Any experience with these, or does anyone have a suggestion for a better one?

I have used the P3 I really liked it. It was a big improvement on the cheaper controller that I had. Smooth controlled braking at all times. I was really impressed in quality over the cheaper one. I no longer use the P3, do to the integrated controller in new truck. If interested in it, I'll ship it to you for $50. Pm me if interested.

I have a P3 and like it. Smooth braking, easy to adjust, multi colors, memory feature, and 3 levels of boost if needed.

I had a Voyager go bad and replaced it with a P3. Really liked it while I had it. Big improvement over the Voyager. Bought a truck with an integrated controller. Very similar to the P3 but a bit better. Now I have a trailer with Electric over Hydraulic Disk Brakes. I'm spoiled forever.

My brake controller is definitely bad. We took the trailer out this weekend, 150 mile trip each way. On the way over there, the brake controller performed flawlessly. On the way back today, sometimes it would work correctly, but about half the time it did not apply enough voltage to the trailer brakes. I had a couple of stops to make on a downhill grade and I could feel the trailer pushing me hard. I used the manual lever to apply more braking to the trailer and the rig stopped like it should. At other times, the bc would apply much too much voltage to the trailer brakes and it would jerk pretty badly. I am looking at another tv which has an integrated controller, so if I trade, my problem is solved. If I keep my current vehicle, I will probably go with the P3. Thanks for the input.

He's right. Much better to go buy a new truck. A 3/4 ton with integrated controller. A few minutes of paperwork vs waiting on UPS to deliver the controller. And then there's the install time. Just sign and drive.

In all seriousness, the P3 is great. I have one on my Tundra. Install and setup was a piece of cake. I really like it.
