I buy the vehicle I want....costs of upkeep doesn't play a factor, nor does fuel mileage. Been doing that with all my vehicles since I bought the first one.

Picking up my F350 6.7 srw tomorrow. Going from a f150 5.7 because my wife wanted a bigger TV. Now, ain't I the lucky sob?

Dustman, I'm pretty much confused about any engine that isn't in cu in. Yeah its a 5.4. Picking up F350 now. Woo Hoo.

All HD trucks are a good choice in the current market it's really splitting hair at this point. Gas or diesel they will get the job done for their perspective towing rating.

For me it was about getting the best TV for my money and not losing my shirt. Based on where I live a Diesel is cheaper to operate and based on the time I plan to switch will be worth 12k more minimum if the current trend continues. Based on on 30,000kms I have saved roughly 3k in fuel and maintenance compared to my 2011 gas truck.
Have a friend who just bought a new 6.4 hemi 2500. Truck is a beast and no problems towing or keeping up on a hill under a load! Nice truck and runs on 87 octane compared to my 5.7 that needed 89. He also is getting 10k between oil changes where my 2011 called for every 5000kms. This would balance out some of my maintenance cost advantages between my diesel and my gas! Fuel mileage towing, truck is still new but he gets around 7mpg keeping pace with me who gets 12mpg.
His truck cost 72k for a 2500 gas crew SRW and if there is and option it does not have I could not find it! Mine was 50k cdn, crew cab dually diesel, work truck with most SLT options less carpet and a few electronic gadgets.
