Thoughts on 4x4 Tow Vehicles

Had to use 4X for our last outing because I had to raise the lite 4 inch's on both sides so it would be level and the steps would open full over the top of the sites cement pad.

Loose gravel and sand made it impossible in 2 wheel drive, locked the hubs twisted the switch and it was over and done.

Two wheel drive, never again in my life.

Always had one so really had not thought about it. I guess if I had to call for a tow every time 4x4 got me out of a jam then I'd have to say it has paid for itself. Never mind the times I have helped others out.

I've always owned 2WD trucks, never needed 4x4 living in suburban southern CA.

I had to use 4WD the day I picked up my trailer, it was sunk in a little bit and I'd have never gotten it out without 4X4

Used our 4x4 twice in NC at two different CGs trying to climb a gravel road just getting out of the CGs. Others were digging holes and throwing rocks everywhere. One CG had a small tractor with a blade to fill in the drive when needed or pull people out. Almost forgot I had 4x4 till I was already dug in. Flipped a switch and drove out easily.
Also, use it on slick boat ramps putting in and taking the boat out.

I use it every winter. Need all the advantages I can get with Boston Traffic. As for camping haven't needed it yet. I I could see a need at some of the campgrounds I have been to.
I have done New England winters in 2wd. It is doable. But 4WD is nice.

I went to a dealer here in central Texas and he had about 120 pick ups on his lot. I would guess that 40 were 1500. The rest were 2500 most ctd and four were 2 wheel drive. Doesn't give you much of a choice if 2 wheel drive is what your wanting. I went with 4 wheel drive and loved every min of it.

I bought a used 2wd for towing mainly because it was too good a deal to pass up. I have never had an instance towing where I needed 4wd. Having said that, our 2 suvs are 4wd and Indiana winters are such that I wish the truck was also 4wd. But I love my truck and have no regrets.

Bought my 1st truck in 1976 ~~ it was 4 wheel drive and have owned nothing but since then.
