Tire rotation

How many folks rotate the tires on their 5ver. I have a XLR 380 AMP with 3 axles, which way should they be rotated?

Been discussed here many times.

Personally id swap them side to side.
Then move each tire one position back and the back one to the front.
Jmo.

Don't know if it's an old wife's tale, but I've been told to not reverse the direction of rotation on radial tires, so, IF that is true, you would just move the ones on each side to a different position on the same side.

Fronts straight back and criss cross the rears forward that would be normal.

Or is it rears straight forward and criss cross the fronts back?

That applies to cars and trucks. I've never rotated tires on a trailer as they are not like the steering tires and drive tires on cars and trucks. The tires on trailers age out long before they wear out. To me, it isn't worth the effort.

I never rotated tires on my previous TT and never had uneven or unusual wear and lasted way longer (9 years) than they had any right to. Of course, always inflated to max for LRC (50psi) and always covered when in its home location.

I looked at the Goodyear site and their only recommendation is to adhere to the trailer manufacturer's recommendation and the Forest River manual doesn't have one. Therefore I have no plans to rotate the tires.

I never rotated tires on any of my trailers, either....one thing I do is raise them high enough to rotate tire about twice a year when I pump grease into bearings. other wise only maintenance I do is, pump a little grease before each long trip and check tire pressures....

Then say so....you stated, "Don't know if it's an old wife's tale, but I've been told to not reverse the direction of rotation on radial tires," never saying "trailer only."

There was a time in the early years of radials that cross rotation was not used. At that time there was a belief that the steel belts would get oriented to the direction they were turning and reversing that could loosen the belts or cause other stresses. As time went by this was shown not to be the case and manufacturers went back to recommending cross rotation.

As far as car, trucks or trailers I don't see any difference in the rotation criteria. A tire is a tire when it comes to that. Whether rotating trailers tires is needed is a different issue.

I don't rotate and they wear evenly.
