Not sure if that is the case in all situations. The OEM Nankooks that I took off of my truck had 44,000 miles on them, and still had 6 or 7/32nds of tread left. That is with 16,000 miles of towing. Those tires should still be good for another 20,000 miles for the guy that bought them.

The reason I replaced the tires ?? They were manufactured in September of 2005.
