It's my understanding that Idaho Tote claims it is legal in states where double-towing (aka triple towing) is illegal. That said, "they" (the internets) claim "they" have asked in some of the states (Florida, for instance) and have gotten answers that it's illegal.

I don't have a need - but it seems firmly entrenched in the gray area and probably only matters which leo pulls you over to decide if he's gonna mess up your day or not.

At least not by your description.

There are several designs out there depending on the load you plan on carrying.
Here's another example.

Since it doesn't "articulate" some states may consider it an extension platform of the RV on a support wheel(s). Other states (or Police Officers/DOT) may not see it that way and interpret their law as a separate "trailer".

Still, be mindful of the total length of the TV, RV & Toter trailer.

Another thing to check out is the campgrounds you are going to, some campgrounds will not let you bring a golf cart in and if some do these campgrounds can charge you to bring it in and they may what you to have it insured....

Example: Pirateland in Mytle Beach, will not let you use your own cart, you have to rent theirs. If you have a seasonal site or you are an owner then you can have one, but only one.

If you go to Thousand Trails In Hershey PA they will let you use your cart but they will charge you $3.00 a day and it has to be insured.

Definity a no-no in PA. No sure what the fine might be, but with Pennsylvania's costs and fees on top of the basic fine you can bet it won't be cheap!

I've only seen things like this.

I would think a 5th wheel would tow great. I know they have to unhook triples going into California, so crossing state lines might be interesting!

Here's a video posted in another thread

Why stop at the golf cart???

Hey guys I figured you will get a kick out of this. I have a custom hitch on the back of my 285b+ and tow about 6500lbs behind it. It took a lot of work and some scary moment and long slow trips to get it all worked out but now I can run 70 and no issues. It is 64'11.5" long with the slide hitch all the way up. As they say DONT TRY THIS AT HOME!! This has been a 4 year project that took a lot of work and trial and error. Lucky the error was never a major issue or accident of any kind.

At 70?

Yes?

I believe it is and its Legal My next door neighbor is a High Way Patrol Officer Veteran of 20 years. He was kind of impressed. Told me that he wouldn't pull me over. Its within legal limits. I have crossed California state line many times and I always get a few double takes but nothing more.
I am always sure to verify that the states I am traveling in allow tandem towing and what the limits are but for the most part unless it is all out illegal in that state I meet all required laws. The only possible citation depending on how I am loaded would be combined GVT.
