SRW or DRW

My puller is a 2013 F250 4x4 SRW 6.7 diesel with 3.55 rears and air ride helpers in the rear. We are pulling a 2013 Crusader 330MKS with a gross weight of 12500 lbs. We have made two Florida runs from Pa. and many other trips. I haven't seen any issues thus far, but as discussed a DRW will be better. I also use my F250 as a second vehicle so SRW was the choice. Even with a tire blowing on the coach, after hitting some road debris the combo ran smoothly. It just felt a little soft in tracking response.

Weight Police? We don't need nooooo stinnnnnking Weight Police!! Tows more that a Ford F450? W00t! 7,390 Payload? Yea we WILL haul the kitchen sink (or at least that 70 Gal Aux tank )

(YES, I know, Ford will go large this fall with their F350 and "beat" these specs, but theirs will be a beer can and we will be all steel goodness )

2016 Ram 3500 Lets You Tow an Even Bigger House – News – Car and Driver | Car and Driver Blog
There is some perspective loss here, and that's just what Ram wants. You really need to read the fine print. The 7,390 payload is for a stripped down regular cab 2wd 6.4 hemi dually. The 31,210 towing is for a regular cab dually with the Cummins and Aisin transmission option, and I'm sure not many other options. Ford's F450 pickup is rated at 31,200 towing in any, up to platinum trim level with 4wd and a crew cab. I can't find a whole lot on the 2016's yet, but the 2015 Cummins/Aisin Laramie longhorn 4x4 dually was "only" rated to 28,750. I know I very, very rarely see a regular cab dually pickup anymore from any of the big 3. I'm not sure where the 16 Ram will fall towing (for a similar truck), but apples need to be compared to apples.

Long and short of it, far as RV's go, if you're good to tow 21k, you can tow any trailer out there, and the rest is just to brag anyway.

Maxtow package with 4.10 gears and the 68RFE trans was already at the 30,000 lb rating GCVWR in 2014 year model. Same truck with an Aisin automatic was rated at 31750 lb GCVWR. My truck with hitch in bed scales in at 9060 lbs with me and all my stuff in it, that is with the 14,000 lb GVWR spring setup under my truck. Calculations based on CAT scale certified weight receipts, leaves me 60 lbs under 21,000 lb for a camper. That is all INSIDE MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS of my signature truck, a Laramie 4X4 with all options and a Roll N Lock bed cover installed. Even at this weight, the truck pulls easily up a 6 percent grade. My gross scaled out at 25,410 lbs on the same scale.

I just ran up to Tom Johnsons Camping World to get my Trilogy 38RL, and in the 97 degree temperature with this load, my water temp did not move very much, I just heard the cooling fan fully engage on the uphill climb.
