I have a 2015 F150, 4WD Super Cab, 3.5EB 3:31 gears with 7050 GVWR and 2030 payload (per the yellow sticker inside the door.)

My trailer weighs about 5800lbs loaded for camping and I use the Andersen WDH. Tows nice with no white knuckle moments. I usually tow at about 58-60mph. I could be first to the top of the hill, but choose to enjoy the journey. I don't care if someone passes me like I'm standing still. I drive where I'm comfortable, for the conditions, and within the speed rating of my ST tires. I use tow/haul and lock out 6th gear. If I have to slow down going uphill for a really slow truck, I'm not concerned about losing my momentum.

I don't pay much attention to my mpg while towing. It is what it is and I'm not going to stress about it. I spend more time thinking about what I will throw on the bbq when I get to the campground.

My '13 Ecoboost did ok towing my 5th wheel on the straights. It was too slow on the steeps. Towing at 6,000 to 12,000 feet AGL didn't help it much either. Weight of the 5th wheel was about 7300 lbs dry and about 8500 to 9000 lbs wet.

To Ecoboost or Not Ecoboost? That's the Question.

Obviously, from my signature, you can see what I'm towing with mine. I estimate my total camper weight at around 8700 lbs. The truck is just about to hit 50k miles, with just over 8k hitched.

If you want real towing reviews, try the site below. They load every truck to the maximum weights spec'ed by the manufacturer, then run Ike's Gauntlet on cruise control and time them through the course, along with fuel mileage, brake temps, etc. It's the most thorough, objective analysis that I've seen.

Oh, one note on reliability ... I've spent many more repair trips and a lot more money on the camper in the 3 years that I've owned it, than the truck in the same period. 😀
