Toad hitch

Next year we will be getting a Berkshire when Laura fully recovers and we bought a new 2016 Acadia AWD as a toad. BlueOx has everything we need to install the mounts and fuse cut out switches.

I watched the video of how the mount needs to be installed and there are some areas of radiator shielding that need to be cut away.

So my question is; If you were me, would you do the work yourself (I am pretty handy and would most likely do a fair, safe job); let Fretz RV (who sells that brand) and was recommended by BlueOx do it; or just bite the bullet and take it to the BlueOx factory if they offer an install.

OR

Is there a better toad rig manufacturer option?

Let fretz do it. And call me, we'll go to lunch while it's there!

I talked to BlueOx and they DO installs.
However, they would charge retail for the parts.

Buying all new from eTrailer (they have everything we need plus free shipping over $100), will total $2963.79.

BX88274 - Fuse eliminator 1 - $174.95
BX88294 - Fuse eliminator 2 - $ 88.95
BX1708 - Acadia Plate - $394.99
BX8848 - Acadia Wiring Kit - $ 71.95
BX7420 - Avail arms (10,000 pound rated) - $945.00
BX88308 - Accessory Kit - $288.95
BRK2012 - Patriot Braking System - $999.00

Watching all the install videos, the only tricky part seems to be cutting away part of a plastic shield with a zip saw. My neighbor has a lift if I get stuck.

I think I have my summer project.

N1JOH has a used set of 10,000 pound arms BX7335 he is taking to the rally. BlueOx will refurbish them to near new for $95 plus $20 return shipping. Shipping to TN would be in addition.

(While they won't work on the Acadia, he also has a set of BX7330 for sale at the Rally Flea Market this year).

If Fretz sold Berks I would just to build some "Face time" prior to dealing on the RV. We can still get together for lunch one day!

I'd enjoy that. After life settles down a bit, let's plan on it!

Herk, I have used the Blue Ox system for several years and I know you'll be very happy with it. Once everything is installed, the ease of hitching/unhitching the BO hitch is easy and safe. Good luck to you and we're praying for Laura's quick and complete recovery. It's great to hear you making new RV plans for the future instead of the situation you've had to deal with the past few years.
