Tongue weight

Went back to Cat scales (new app is wonderful). Weigh ticket just for trailer is attached. Do I have enough tongue weight and if not, how do I get more?? OK can’t load picture. Tongue weight is 700#, trailer axles are 5700#, total is 6400#.

Second question. Am I correct in assuming each tire is carrying 1425#. Give pr take. I know the right side is slightly heavier.

Thanks,

I don't understand where 1,425 comes from, but if your GVW of the trailer is 6,400 pounds and tounge weight should be 10-15%, then I would think your 700lb tounge weight is ideal.

What is the GVWR of your trailer? Hopefully it is less than 6,400 lbs. We're you fully packed?

Ron

10% of 6400 is 640. You're at 700, which is about 11%. So I think you're fine.

Yes, tires are at 1425 lbs each, ASSUMING balanced equally left-right and fore-aft. But that's probably not a great assumption. Most trailers have a heavier side. Fore and aft shouldn't be an issue if you have it set up so it's level when towing, which you should have anyway.

You might want to check the load number on the sidewall and see how much margin you have. If your tires are anything like mine, I have load range C, good for 1934 lbs each. At 5500 lbs, my tires are at 1375 lbs, or 69% loaded (31% margin). So I"m not too concerned about left-right balance.

Fully loaded as on the road. 1425 is total weight setting on the axlesdovided bt 4 tires carrying the weight.

You should be good with that tongue weight. As far as if you maybe feel like it’s a little unstable you could move some things forward or put a few lawn chairs or something at the front. If you have a fresh water tank that’s in front you could also put some water in that just to give a little more weight. But like others have said you are close to 11% so you should be good.
