Tongue Weight

Awaiting my new Cherokee grey wolf 27rr and trying to make some calculations. The estimated gvwr is 7965. The Dry weight is 5762. The hitch weight says 965. How are they calculating the hitch weight? Are they using the gvwr or dry weight?

Welcome to the forum.
965 is dry hitch weight

Here's a website that may help you make some calculations.

Ideally your tongue weight will be13-15% of your loaded trailer weight. Listed tongue weight is always a dry tongue weight.

Yes, that's why I was wondering. This is almost 17% and I have always heard between 12-15%
