I have a the poor man's polycarbonate Retrax and it works great, just don't go through a car wash with temps like we get (-30's) and expect it to open again till spring or you take it in for an oil change. The nice thing with this one is I can take it off the truck by myself in about 5 minutes when it is open as there are only 4 clamps holding it on the truck and it is quite light. I would probably go with a Pace Edwards if I had to do over again though.

have a bakflip f1 with the bak box.....but when i put in the aux gas tank i couldent use the bakbox....and now neither of my big gennys will fit under the cover so its off.....but none the less its awesome....

i have a bed rug, and under rail led lights ...with the bak flip its like a GIANT lighted trunk...had to poke the drain tubes through my bedrug... im sure you could flip it back for use with a 5er...not sure about clearance on turning tho...

I don't want to high-jack your threat but does anyone have a Peragon retractable tonneau cover?

I opted for the Pace Edwards motorized top. Upside is that it is made of aluminum, very rugged, secure, opens with a push of the button, doesn't require a channel on the tailgate like some tops. Downside, heavy, and yes the hanging box does interfere with hauling, especially with a 5'8'' short bed. Would still probably do it again. I did have to modify the handle on the hitch so it didn't stick up so high. Just turned it down about 90 degrees and drilled holes for the pin.

I went with the Tri-fecta Tri-Fold with canvas instead of the vinyl covering. Love the look and it works well for me. I also purchased (actually came free with a purchase special) the rear tailgate seal to prevent any water or dust from entering through tailgate. I have the 8ft bed and when folded does not effect the fifth wheel clearance.

Thanks everyone!! With all the options out there I think I might go with a tri-fold. I like to have some coverage (1/3) when towing and the ease folding it closed or take it off.

I have the Extang Solid-Fold and it works great. I had one on my last truck and it's good quality stuff. I have a short-bed, but with the Revolution hitch it works great. Opens and closes quick and easy.

I went with the Truxedo TruXport because I wanted a soft rollup that went over the bed rails as opposed to being inside the rails. Lightweight, simple and cheap. Lots of good options out there. If you want to put it on yourself, realtruck.com has great prices.

Here is a pick of my bakflip when we are hooked to the fiver. It will also flip up against the back window if you need to use the whole box.

Ehorn, thanks for the photo. I have the same tonneau cover but had never noticed the D rings at the cab end. I've just been out to look and low and behold, I have them too! I had been wondering how I could secure the folded cover for when I start pulling a 5er in a few weeks. You've just solved that in an instant. Thanks again.

I had 3 different Velcro roll up covers, they were all or nothing & the Velcro on all 3 came off the rails. Even the one that was replaced under warranty. I now have a tri fold cover & like it. It keeps a third of the bed fairly dry when towing & comes all the way off easily when it is not needed.

Got the same BakFlip. Saw the D-Rings and wondered what I'd use them for. Love my BakFlip! Kicking myself for the 2 1/2 years of ownership without one!
