Tow Dolly Hitch Issue

I am very new to Class A and towing. I back it up a steep grade on my driveway for storage.
I just purchased an Acme Exe tow dolly with surge disc brakes. To get the recommended hitch height I have to put a 6 to 8 in drop hitch on. When doing that I can't get out of the driveway without the hitch hitting (have not hit yet, measured ). So now I have to pull out in front of my house to hook up.
Should I have purchased another dolly or does this issue come up from time to time.
I have a Georgetown 335DS and dolly a VW Beetle Convertible.

Tow Dolly Hitch Issue

Adrinkard, we use an electric brake Stehl dolly behind a 32ft class C towing a Caddy SRX. Set at the recommended ball height, the "V" shaped support under the tongue drug so often going in and out of gas stations, etc., that the bottom of the V wore all the way through in 6000 miles. It was hitting instead of the motor home frame skids. This was with a 3 1/2" drop. I changed the ball mount to a 1 1/2 drop flipped over to provide + 1/2". Have driven 800 mile this way without any more problems. The ball is 4" higher and there is still plenty of ground clearance between the back of the dolly ramps and the ground. Now that we are back home, I need to swing by a welding shop and get the "V" put back together. Hope this helps you.

You may have the same issue regardless of dolly or even flat tow. I've towed my Acme dolly for thousands of miles with the hitch at an upward angle. Optimum is level, but it may not hurt to have some upward angle.

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.
