Tow Dolly with Ford Fiesta?
Anybody towing a Fiesta with a tow dolly? If so, which dolly and do you like it. Thinking of going with this combo as it's probably going to save me about $1500 compared to towing 4 flat. wasn't expecting an installed quote with braking to be almost $4000!

I would check out dolly's on Craig's list. I found a nice one for $700.

Even if you are semi-mechanically inclined, you could cut that $4K in half. Doing the work yourself could save a mint. Also, the big reason I didn't go with a dolly - where do you put it once you get to your destination?
Just my $0.02

did you do your own Liberty baseplate? I have one of those too but the RV place wants a fortune to install it.

You can find a nice master 2 on eBay for about twelve hundred including brakes. Personally I would not invest in modifying my car 44 down Towing. Don't forget you also need a transmission that is able to be towed. If not you will have to modify that as well.

I picked up a tow dolly on Craigs list. I used it once and decided 4 down was the way for me. I sold the dolly for a little more than I paid. I set the car up for 4 down and am very happy with the decision so far.

The Fiesta can go either way, even with an automatic. I'm going tow dolly at first. If we don't like it I can always sell the dolly and convert to 4 down.

Well, I didn't do it.... ..... My 28 year old son did. But he said it was a breeze. He did it on a weekend where the DW and I had the Sunseeker and our other Jeep (Renegade) out camping. Said it took him a couple hours because he took some breaks - it was hot and humid. I looked at it afterwards and was impressed with his work. He said the YouTube videos were a great help.

I venture to say, you will not be able to install a base plate on a Fiesta in a couple hours. You can google and watch the videos.

I installed a blu ox baseplate on a 2012 Focus. one of the YouTube videos for this model was spot on. All in all, took almost the day but could do it much faster now that I know what's involved. Only thing - have a good electric drill and a drill bit for hardened steel.

Yep, I've seen the videos. Another reason I'm going tow dolly first. I don't want to tear apart a brand new car!

Faced the same question, and came to the same conclusion as you. Invested in a good dolly and have towed our Hyundai some 5000 miles so far... Good luck to you!

I have a tow dolly from Acme.it has surge brakes and I love it.no need for brake actuators or tow plates. if I wanna tow my car my truck or anyones car it's a easy process. After arriving at my destination.I just unhook it from the motorhome.push it to the back of where I'm going to back the motorhome up to and it is all but hidden under the motorhome. If I change motorhomes (done that twice so far) there is no need to have any brake or wiring done. It's always ready.I bought it new with a spare tire.and everything I needed .I did however buy a trailer towing light set from harbour freight.that I put in the rear window of the tow vehicle to be sure it can be seen from behind.

I also have a tow dolly from Acme that I use to tow a Mini. I have found that after I unload the car, I can back the MH into spaces with the tow dolly still attached.

That is pretty cool. I had not seen one of these before.

We own a 2014 Fr30d and a 2014 Fiesta and have Master Tow dolly . We leave it hooked to the rv when using a pull thru and back up over it when we have to use a back ln site.

Fiesta Towing with Tow Dolly
I want to tow my 2016 Ford Fiesta (auto-trans) on my Acme tow dolly. I read my Form Owner's manual and it's telling me to place the vehicle in Neutral, leave the key in and disconnect the battery. Boy this is confusing. I'm thinking front wheel drive and wheels are up, why do I need to leave it in N and not Park. Seems like that would put all the weight on the tow straps with a slight incline, which is added weight on the tow straps as well. Anyone has and insight for a Jr. RVer.

The directions from Acme specifically tell you to put the vehicle in park. They do not mention disconnecting the battery. I do not disconnect the battery and have not had any issues.
