Towing a FW need to by a set of tires. The tire guy said Generals HTS LT265/70R17 /E is a good choice. Their rated at E class with 3195 lbs. per tire strength. Any advise out there. I have also been lookin at the Michelins.

I bought E rated Coopers, they have been doing a fine job and the guys at Discount tire are Johnny on the spot in taking care of them and me.
The Coopers replaced Continentals that were worthless in the snow and ice.

I went to just over 25,000 miles and swapped them out just be for the snow fell on the third year they still had legal tread but I did not want to slip and slide just to get to the HWY 5 blocks away...

I have had Nitto Terra Grapplers for about 12K miles and they have handled the snow and ice we had this winter very well. Handle well on highway and with 5er. Show no signs of wear yet and the people I talked to have been getting 50-60k before needing to replace.

100,000 km, Noiser than the slippers Ford OEM put on the truck. Tow well. Great in Snow. I have these for the second winter now. Have 30,000km on them and near new tread. Rotated every oil change and run Nitrogen ( Jury out on that yet)

I have used nothing but Michelin LT tires on my TV's until this camping season. My Michelins that I have used are LT265/70R/17E M/S2 tires rated at 3195 @80 PSI. These run quite and have provided good service on my 2008 Ram through all type of weather conditions.
I am changing to LT285/70R/17-125R Nitto Dural Grapplers with Mickey Thompson Sidebiter II wheels. Since I am going to be towing a heavier 5th wheel this year a CC34RL; and want the extra support of a 10 PLY tire. These are rated for 3638 LBS at maximum air pressure which I will not be using but what the axle loads are per a certified weight scale.

I put on Goodyear Silent Armor Wrangler, load range E. Top of the line. I got $160 rebate when they go one sale twice a year at Goodyear dealer. I have about 20,000 on them so far and they still look new. Tire life according to Tire Rack dot com says I should expect 100,000 miles. They seem to me to be very quiet on the road , even with an aggressive tread that gives me good snow traction. Turning lean on the '01 Ram Van I use as TV is almost non-existent. These tires are tough! Glad that I bought them.

Stay away from Firestone
I have the Firestone Transforce HT's on my 2012 3500 Ram with only 20'000 miles on them and they flat out suck ! These are the worst tire I ever had on a truck. The truck came with them and Firestone must have been giving them away. Unless you are in 4 wheel in any kind of snow you go no where even on a flat road. I have heard really good things about Cooper Tires and Hankook tires but I have a problem with any tire made off shore, just don't know if I would trust them.

You can look tire prices up on tirerack dot com and samsclub dot com for a wide range of tire sizes and makes. I used the online prices to negotiate with my local-owned independent Goodyear dealer (not a factory store) and he gave me a break in the price. With the $160 rebate that was offered i paid about a $1,000 for 4. Have had free balancing and rotation on them also.

Excellent choice, IMO, best tire for a tow vehicle.
