5-6 mpg around the Poconos in PA. *** I expect (really hope) the milage will be a little better on our trip to FL in Dec.

While not the best I have heard by far on this forum; my 2008 GMC 2500HD Sierra CrewCab 4x2 with Duramax diesel engine and Allison Transmission (3.73 Positraction rear) gets:

Empty - Cruise Control at 65 = 23 MPH Highway
Empty (Generator in back no hitch installed) Around town = 13MPG

Packed for camping and towing 9200 pound 5th wheel:
Highway Cruise Control - Tow/Haul ON = 12-13MPG
In town (IE NOT on cruise - Stop and Go type) = 10 MPG average

You may be right, but the C-130 would do 300 MPH flat out and haul 28 tons of Meals Ready to Eat (MRE)'s or 64 meat bombs!

Yes, it would have the advantage in hauling lots of cargo at a good clip.
What is your average PPH X4 burn rate when doing 300 and full of GI's?

Oh, those things. What a great name! I rode one of those down once. It was my 50th b'day present. I loved it except for the training.

Well, I've been retired for 5 years now, so its been a while. But here goes.

Burn per engine: 1100 pounds JP-5 per hour per engine
Burn per hour 4 engines: 4400 pounds per hour
Density of JP-5: 6.5 pounds per gallon
Gallons of JP-5 per hour: 677 gallons per hour
No wind gound speed 300 miles per hour
so, about 0.45 miles per gallon of Jet Fuel
What a rush though ...

What size is your TT? 42' Salem Villa Estate
What's your typical TT GVW? 11,000 lbs dry
What tow vehicle? 2006 ford SD crew cab 4x4 long box w/ 5.4 triton
MPG while towing? trip home was 600km and 210L of gas.

so 370 miles, 55.5 us gallons = 6.7 mpg... I know my bus with the 7.3 diesel would do much better.
