Towing 5th wheel with f150 ecoboost supercrew 5.5ft box?

We found a 22 ft light weight 5th wheel, all payload and tow ratings are good. Need to know if we can turn, back in and handle sharp turns without trailer and cab colliding? Anyone have this set up?

Check out the YouTube for the Andersen Ultimate fifth wheel hitch. Its for short beds and because it weighs the least it will save you about 100# of payload deduction. Of course for your case the trailers front nose design is very relevant. If its cut back like an Open Range or a Wildcat, you might be OK in A 5.5.

The Reese Revolution or Sidewinder hitch gives you the setback you need too.

Revolution allows 90 degree turns. I have had mine there just once to see, not advises as it does place a lot of stress on the wheels.

I have a short wheel base and I installed the 5th airborne Sidewinder by Reese. It is a pain to hitch and unhitch but it is worth its weight in gold!

We tow a Rockwood ultra lite signture 8280 with F150 (2013) v8 with 6.5 foot box with no problems regarding hitting. The rockwoods do have "Cobra" extended hitch that helps. I believe tht you will need to install an extended 5th wheel hitch to totally void any hits. Do not let any dealer convince you to install the hitch in the truck further back in the box. That would solve the problem but your tow would be a nightmare and dangerous.

I have a F150 and an 8289 5th wheel, I have the Reese on it and didn't have any issues at all:

I run the pull right unit and can do 90 degree turns and have the short bed. I do run the morryde pin box.
