Towing a Columbus fiver with Ram truck

We are moving up to a fifth wheel this winter. Looking in particular at the Columbus Compass 374BH. Is anyone pulling a Columbus fiver or any other full profile fiver with a Ram truck with the 6 ft 4 in bed. If so, what hitch are you using? My list of hitches that I am considering are in this order.

1. Reese Goose Box
2. B&W Companion that fits the pucks, non slider if I dont have to.
3. Andersen Ultimate
4 Demco Hijacker or Pullrite Superglide.

TV is a 2016 Ram 3500 SW CCSB Cummins. with 3860 lb payload cap.

thanks for any input

I pull a 42'Chaparral with a Ram 3500 short bed dually. I have a fixed Reese hitch and have no problems and can turn around in a culdasac. My front cap is cut back on the sides and it appears the Columbus is the same. I've never hit or came close to the cab. Been in a few tight parks too.YMMV,but I would think you would be fine with a regular hitch of your choice.

Those responses are encouraging for not needing a slider.

I just changed from a Curt slider to an Andersen Ultimate. I like the Andersen a lot.

However, if you're interested I have a real good Curt 16k slider and hitch for sale. I'll make you a real good deal on!

i have a Ram 2500 with the short bed. I park in my Driveway on a city street. You will not need the sliding hitch IMHO.

The only time i have ever had to slide the hitch was to get something out of the garage because the trailer door wouldn't fully open due to the rounded back part of the Ram tailgate.

hitch choices

Love my Anderson Ultimate much like others. Easy to use, remove, and only weighs 35 pounds. All on your list are quality choices. Can't go wrong.

B&W Companion with the Slider but that's because I didn't know enough of the other one to go with so I went with the B&W which have been a solid hitch.

I appreciate the responses, like getting the feedback from actual users of various hitches. Is anyone running the Goose Box. I like the idea of having no hitch at all in the bed to mess with. We have several goose neck trailers at the farm, and would make it easier not having to take any hitch out. I have searched all over the net for pics of short bed trucks with the Goose Box, there are some, but not many. Bed rail clearance is a concern. My dealer has contacted Columbus and the Goose Box is good to go according to them.

I have the Hijacker. I vote for the B&W, a quality hitch and you can take it out of the truck.

I have the PullRite SuperGlide w/ a short bed F250. Peace of mind, but not 100% sure I needed the extra clearance, and it cost a lot and is too heavy to easily remove on my own (can do it using ramps and a come-along, pain in the neck though). Not unhappy but I think I would look hard at lighter options if I was doing it again. Does use below bed mounting rails, so I get a clean bed when removed, which I really like.

when i had my superglide i had a cherry picker set up to remove from the truck
that is why when i traded trucks i went with the superlite
so much lighter to work with

[ATTACH]155993 I like the super glide. Never need to get out and the piece of mind of it sliding when needed is worth its weight in gold. I have a 2017 Ram 2500 short bed.

I have decided to go with the companion RVK 3600 to pull our soon to be ordered Columbus 377mbc. The dealer we are buying from, this will be our 3rd from them, runs the companion in his personal truck. Ford SD SB, The service mgr runs one in his Ram SB. They both pull full profile fivers back from Indiana all the time and never have had a issue with them. Forward or backward. Thanks for all the replies and info.
