Found this out yesterday. I have a 2014 1/2 ton Chevy, 5.3 with 3.42 rear, 6 speed.
In tow/haul the trans will go into 6th, but if the towing is to much for the trans to pull the traction control light will come on telling you to shift into the manual mode and shift the trans into a lower gear to pull the load.
Hope this helps fellow FR trailer owners.

Yes and yes. It makes for an easy, enjoyable tow.

I tow a 26RR with an 08 Escalade ESV - 6.2L, 6sp, 3.42 gears. Use T/H mode all the time and cruise when on the interstate at 60. In 5th, it tachs about 2k. If it gets hilly, then I will manually put it in 4th to prevent hunting.

My 5th and 6th gears are both overdrives. I leave it in drive, turn on the haul tow to raise the shift points and firm up the shifts a bit, turn on the exhaust brake and set the cruise at around 65. Let er buck!
