I am pretty certain, although have not confirmed with mine... That the Garmin DZL760 routes AROUND tunnels because it can be set to avoid HAZMATS but the RV760 DOES NOT. Again, have NOT tried with mine since I got it after returning from our last trip for the season.

Rand McNally also avoids if set up. Some tunnels allow propane secured for passage, not all.

My Rand McNally RV 7710 GPS will route you around tunnels that forbid HAZMAT Materials. I was routed around tunnels in PA when we were out east a couple of years ago. When we were pulling our Cougar with two 30 LB Propane bottles on board.

Tunnels interesting point . no rv'er don't have to go around . they do not carry enough propane or other hazard type of flammable material . it's only the large tankers and other very hazard-est materials like a tanker full of liquid nitrogen . the gas tanks on most autos are more dangerous then a 20# or 30# propane bottle

Like I said above, no not the case. Baltimore for one forbids ANY HAZMATs including RV propane and it is a several hundred dollar fine if you go through and the MTA Police stop you.

I think the real limit is over 5lbs... My Parents told me this when they went through in a Georgetown and were stopped.. The officer "asked" (told) them you only have 5 lbs of propane in your RV right?? WINK WINK....

That is correct, no propane in an rv through either Baltimore tunnel. The limit is 10 lbs. Here is the regulations. MD transit authority

I read those regs, it says 10lb with a max of ten containers.

Most of the tunnels in Virginia you have to pull off and your bottles will be checked / inspected to see that they are turned off..........

Several years ago a propane bottle was involved in a RV fire in one of the I77 tunnels. The tunnel was closed for several months for repairs

No restrictions there for us. Not sure about the big rigs, but we travel through all the tunnels in PA on the Turnpike (76) and 476. Never any restrictions.
