Towing my new 2014 Ford Fiesta

I recently bought a 2014 Ford Fiesta with a manual transmission. I have a Forest River Sunseeker 3010DS. I would like to tow the Fiesta as a dinghy. My question is what would I need to purchase and install on the Fiesta. Would I need to change anything on the car, transmission, brakes, lights, etc. I am new to towing, if someone has info please let me know.

Towing my new 2014 Ford Fiesta

You will need to install a baseplate on the fiesta, you will need to get a wiring kit that is fiesta specific to make the running lights and brake lights work. You will need to buy a towbar that attaches to the RV. You may or may not want to install a brake system on the fiesta as well. Some states require them. I recommend blue ox components. A blue ox dealer will get you fully installed from about $1900.00 - 2500.00.

Have you verified that the Fiesta can be flat towed? Even though a vehicle has a standard transmission does not mean it can be flat towed. When towed it needs to be slinging oil. Some transmissions only sling oil when the input shaft is spinning. You'll be spinning the output shafts when towing it.

I have a 2013 Ford Fiesta that I pull as a toad with my Forester 3051S. I had Camping World install A braking system (invisibrake) and the a Roadmaster Falcon all terrain tow bar. Nothing else was required. I place the transmission in neutral and take off the emergency brake and I'm good to go. Look up the 2014 towing guide and verify your vehicle can be towed all four wheels down and then get estimates. I wanted a braking system that I did not have to take in and out so it was more expensive. Good luck!!! I enjoy my RV more now with a vehicle to tow. The fiesta was one of the two lightest vehicles in the 2013 vehicle year that could be towed all wheels down.
