Towing my Roo

I recently purchased a 2018 Rockwood Roo 233s. It was a GVWR of 6600 pounds. I am picking up a new Ram on Thursday. It has a max payload of 1520 pounds and a max towing of 10,100 pounds. I have a WDH installed on my camper. I believe I shouldn’t have any trouble towing it but wanted to see other people’s opinions/recommendations.

You’re well within the capability of your new Ram. Enjoy!

Thanks, I wasn’t sure about the payload.

Do the math so you will know exactly where you are at for tow and cargo. Every set up is different.

Using GVWR:
6600 * 12% = 792 lbs est TW
Add weight of WDH and whatever you will put in the bed. Add about half the weight of driver and passengers in the truck. Make sure this total stays under 1520 and your good to go.

If for some reason you find yourself close to the payload number, you can also remember that 6600 GVWR is 1700 lbs over the dry weight of the camper. There is no way that factory/dealer options, plus your gear, will weight that much. 800 lbs over dry weight is the typical estimate for a loaded hybrid, putting you at around 5700 loaded. Even better, get an actual weight, since you already own the camper.

That 900 lbs savings * 12% means you may actually have an additional 108 lbs of additional payload capacity.
