You need a Weight Distributing Hitch. Air bags will not fix the lack of a proper hitch.

I agree with B and B, I don't see a WDH in those pictures.

Another vote for a WDH with integrated sway control.

Loaded up you'll be at about 4000 with just the trailer. Probably well over 500 lbs of tongue weight. I'd go with a WDH, but try it without the sway bar first, as you might not need it. My trailer is of similar size and weight and I find the sway bar makes no difference at all. I'm also running air bags on my Silverado 1500 and Goodyear Endurance tires on the trailer, both of which help to make it more stable.

It looks good, but definitely get a weight distribution hitch. Even if you only get the basic setup, it will help with sway control to some degree. I used just a WDH with my F-250 and 26' TT, and only really needed a separate sway control one time (high cross-winds going down I-10 here in Texas). Your rig looks great. Now finish it up with the WDH.

Thanks! I do have a sway bar, I might have photographed the hitch before it was on.

I think it looks good. How does it tow as is without the WDH?

You need a weight distribution hitch way more than you need a sway bar. You can most likely get by without a sway bar.

If the weight you are carrying was in the truck bed, the air bags would be the right thing to have but since the load is behind the rear axle, what you need is a weight distribution hitch.
The biggest problem you are trying to solve is how to get the weight back to the FRONT axle so you don't have a light steering wheel and therefore a very unstable situation.
If w/o distribution hitch your front is within 1/8in of the unloaded hight in the front axle, you should be ok BUT I never see that happen with 1/2 ton trucks.

X2, air bags are nice for some things, but, they will not do what you want in this case. Good luck
