Very smart of you to ask. The Suburban tow numbers are very deceptive - Double check to make sure you actually have the HD tow package (transmission cooler, oil cooler and not the 3.08 rear end). The max tow rate of 8100lbs is for suburbans outfitted with this package, otherwise your tow rating drops down to 5100lbs. Most are not and most have the 3.08 rear end for 2009-20011 models (i've been thru this). Suburbans are amazing vehicles and ride like a cadillac, but definitely not the tow vehicle they once were (minus the 3/4 ton).

Thanks Texansinmaryland. I think i read somewhere on here that you can find that out with your VIN or would it be in the owners amnual? And your right about riding like a cadillac, nice unit sfor sure.
