Towing two trailers. Yes or no?

I could really use some help on deciding what to do. I am picking up my 2016 Wildwood 201BHXL(23ft overall length) next weekend and we are taking it from the DFW area to Creede, CO in the summer. I'm wanting to know if I can pull my camper and utility trailer behind my truck safely. Both trailers are bumper pulls.

The camper has an I beam frame so is it strong enough to put a hitch on it? I would be attaching a 14ft tandem axle utility trailer with a Polaris RZR loaded on it. I estimate the utility trailer and RZR weight at 3,000pds.

I have purchased a Fastway E2 weight distribution/sway control system. I will be pulling these with a 2004 F250 powerstroke diesel. I'm going to try and post a pic of the truck and utility trailer.

So again, can it be done safely? I welcome any thoughts or recommendations. I have gotten a lot of mixed thoughts on this. Some are telling me the trailers will be uncontrollable. Thanks in advance.

I can't figure out why the pics are upside down, but when you click on them they are right side up. Sorry.

I would say No! 3000 lbs is a lot of tail wagging the dog. Not to mention the trailer frame might look like a I beam it is really not that strong.

I saw campers in Ocean Lakes Campground pulling a fifth wheel with a hitch on the back of camper with a 4 wheel trailer. On the trailer was a golf cart, I took pictures of the hitch. I talked to a few people that pulled boats behind the camper. The only trouble is that you can't back up, well not far

I would check with the manufacturer about "possibly" adding a hitch onto the trailer. It may void your warranty. I was told that when I asked about my 5er having a hitch installed on the rear, just to hold a rack that would hold my onan genny. Max 380 lbs.

Nope, just about all states it is illegal to pull ball and ball hitch setup. It has to be fifth wheel and ball hitch setup. Plus your TT cannot be set up with a hitch for a trailer that size.

If the manufacture didn't install it they will always say no so dont even bother asking... they dont install them as they dont want the liability.

I tow a 36' 5th wheel and have had a single jet ski behind as well as a 10' utility trailer loaded with gear. This year i will be dragging a bass boat behind the 5th wheel...

I wouldn't recommend you do this as your trailer weights are similar as well as they are similar in length... plus with the first being a bumper pull it is really going to introduce sway into your world... Whether or not the frame of your camper will handle that is a huge question as well... However regardless of the frame's strength I dont like what i see as far as the first trailer being relatively small and similar in size to the one to be towed behind...

I am usually for triple towing given the right combo but i dont see yours ending well.

I have attached pics of my triples. Do note that the camper is always significantly larger than the third...

don;'t think it's legal in MI to go triple with a bumper pull. only a 5th wheel & trailer behind that. and an overall length restriction (and DL test too i believe)

Some states allow a trailer behind a 5th wheel. Here in California you have to have a commercial class A license with doubles certification. California is really struck, you have to have an endorsement just to pull a 5th wheel over 10,000 lbs and a non-commercial class A fo a 5th wheel over 16,000 lbs.

I did it for several years with a 36 foot fifthwheel and a 14 foot enclosed trailer for two Harley touring bikes. Biggest issue was if you had to weave to dodge something that enclosed trailer would take a beating. It also had to have a fold up jack to keep it from getting torn off when traveling across dips like pulling in for fuel. That length behind the rear wheels of the TT is pretty big fulcrum. I would be very cautious of pulling anything behind a TT. I would put some sort of sway bar on the tandem trailer as well as the TT. I really don't think it is good idea. It is big pain dealing with second trailer.

Texas allows triple towing with a max length of 65'. TDPS states "A house trailer or towable recreational vehicle and motor vehicle combination may not be longer than 65 feet".

I would not triple tow unless it's behind a 5th wheel. What you show is too much uncontrolled weight on a single bumperpull IMO.

https://www.txdps.state.tx.us/cve/length.htm

Towing World Official Website

I also don't think your TT frame could handle 2000' of towed weight behind it.

Ohio requires 65' max length and breaks on both trailers ect. I have pulled doubles for 4 years now (fifth wheel &Taho s/f boat) The furthest trips being from Ohio to Louisianan and back, and the double bumper pulls I've seen scare me.With 37yrs with UPS(retired) I've seen a lot of smart 5rs and some not so.I feel the max speed is set for a reason especially for someone towing.(pic of Jayco set up,Wildcat to come soon!)

Upside down pictures

Did you notice your pictures are upside down? I think the computer gods are answering the question as to the wisdom of this set-up. I think they are saying this is what your entire rig could look like!!!

The double tows on the more modern RVs always worried me. It seems that they are so cheaply made anymore that I'd be afraid of the thing tearing in half!

Twice: I think the phone and app uploads does that for some reason. Can be quite annoying.

you might try putting your 4 wheeler on the back of your pickup...[if you have an 8ft bed]....build a platform....can be done.
what cant be done is adding hitch to that trailer....those are not really I beams but thin welded steel strips.besides two hooked ball pulls really dangerous.

Checking with rules of the road, no states allow towing with two trailers except commercial with tandem license. Michigan and several other states require an attachment to the drivers license to pull "recreational doubles" and ONLY a fifth wheel and trailer. Under 69 ft.

Check out this site and others as what you stated is not correct(no states allow towing with two trailers except commercial with tandem license). https://rv-roadtrips.thefuntimesguid...ple_towing.php

I have trouble enough pulling one trailer down the road. DW talks bad enough about me now, I can't imagine what she say if I was pulling two, I would probably be deaf
