if it doesn't have the factory tow package, you have to duplicate it.

i hope it's not a 4cyl. Tacoma.

LOL, bikendan!
V6, 4X2, couldn't find rear end ratio with VIN decoder, so unknown, no factory tow package but I will duplicate it.
Also learned this: Standard towing, 3,500; maxi tow, 5,000; standard payload, 1625; standard GVWR 5100.I didn't buy it to tow, just pull a lawnmower and do home maintenance. Decided to start this adventure with the least amount of expenditure for our "first" trailer.

not sure if the Tacoma has different rear end ratios between the factory tow package and without it.
it won't be cheap to duplicate it. you'll have to have it wired for a 7-pin connector, wired for a brake controller, trans cooler, towing mirrors, and possibly a rear end gear ratio change.

There was another user OmegaQuest who started with a fairly new Tacoma, added a bunch of things to it for towing, bought his trailer and almost immediately went and bought a new F150.

I'm not saying the Tacoma can't tow- you just have to be very particular about what you're getting, what your carrying and what your expectations are.
