Towing wrangler

I just purchased a 2014 Wrangler to tow behind my 2016 351ds. Now Iím slightly intimidated on the idea, but wife wanted a tow vehicle. Whatís a good tow bar and braking system, and what other things will I need to purchase to get this all up and running.

I used the Falcon All terrain and like it very much. No matter which tow bar you get make sure it allows for connecting at an angle both up and down and side to side. I towed a full size GMC. don't forget some sort of rock guard.

I bought a Blue Ox tow bar, Blue Ox baseplate and the InvisiBrake. I like the Invisibrake because once installed, you never have to do anything other than plug it into the RV.

You'll get lots of different opinions on what to get, what's best, etc. I tow a 2008 Jeep JK behind a MBS Sprinter class C. We use the NSA Ready Brute Elite towbar and their emergency breakaway system with a Blue Ox baseplate. what I really like about this system (Ready Brute) is the simplicity, the lifetime guarantee, and the cost. The brake setup is something you can install yourself, if you are somewhat mechanically inclined (drill a hole in the firewall, route a conduit, tighten some clamps, etc). For the whole setup, you are generally under $1200, doing the work yourself. I had initially gone to a dealer and was looking at a full Blue Ox and invisibrake system, installed and the service person showed me an estimate they had worked up for another person and the cost was pushing $5K. Quickly decided I was not going to do that. We towed across the western US lat summer with no problems, and will be making another long trip later this summer. I have no concerns about using the NSA setup. If your Jeep has tabs welded to the front bumper, you can forego a baseplate and mount the towbar to the tabs, assuming you have a good bumper to frame connection. The other item you will need to have installed is a wiring harness for the lighting system to work off the RV. There are several options available for that too. Be sure that the height difference between the RV hitch and the towbar connection point is fairly close to level (within a few inches +/-, as a fast stop could lead to the Jeep diving or riding over the hitch point. Good Luck.

Hereís the front of my Jeep. I assume I need to buy the bracket. Are the tabs you talk about come straight from Manufacturer?

For whatever reason, I cannot open the file showing the front of your Jeep. If you have welded tabs, or shackles on the front, would be readily apparent and most often found on aftermarket bumpers. I purchased all my towbar setup from Amazon.
