TruthBTowed - No performance difference between P2 and P3. Just the user interface.

If my memory serves me right---------------------
I believe (according to my literature) the only difference between the P-2 & P-3 is the P-2 is for two axles and the P-3 is for three axles.

Actually they are both up to 4 axle. As brakeman said, the main difference is the user interface. That having been said, I think it is easily worth the extra $25 for the p3. If for not other reason than the "coolnesss" factor

Draw-Tite and Tekonsha are both owned by the same company Cequent Performance Products. I was able to purchase a new Draw-Tite P-3 controller for less than the Tekonsha was selling for.

Yes, I have heard that the Tekonsha guts are making their way into other shells. But be careful. You could easily get something lesser and not really know it. For example, they may put the Primus guts, and brand it as the "same" as the Prodigy. They are close, but missing some important features.

I think there used to be more confusion, as the P3 could be used in more applications than the original Prodigy (for example, electro-hydraulic brakes). But then they upgraded the Prodigy to (I think) be used on all the same applications as P3. This upgraded Prodigy was re-badged "P2".
TruthBTowed - I grew up behind was it now the MJR theater, close enough to walk to Westland mall. John Glenn HS Class of '89 (go Rockets!).

i have the hayes G2, i have mine at a little bit of an angle which could be my problem it senses deceleration and applied more breaking power to the trailer which on dirt roads it sometimes likes to lock up the trailer a nice feature on it is the boost mode it will deliver a little more break pressure to the trailer when under normal breaking conditions thus less heating up on the truck breaks

I had a draw time time based. it worked fine for my 5000 lb horse trailer but not so good for my 7000 lb TT. Bought a prodigy p3 and it worked really well. i did have a problem with the display going out but tekonsha replaced it no questions asked. I sold it when I upgraded o the f250 since it as the integrated brake controller. I really like this option but I think the p3 was pretty close in quality. you can get p2 or p3 off eBay pretty cheap.
