Trailer Distribution Hitch W/Sway

Asking for a couple of opinions, I have been reading here, and researching on the net, but would like to know the best distribution hitchh with sway control that you use, and where to buy. Any help would be appreciated.

We used the Reese system with the cams. I do not feel anything when a truck passes me...and if I drop the right side off the edge of the road it does not sway when I bring it back on the road!

I also use the Reese Straight Line system (Dual Cam). it keeps my 32ft. TT arrow straight and allows me to drive over 10 hours straight if needed, and I have done it. properly setup it is one of the better systems out there. I ordred mine from RV Wholesalers. along with any other major items I needed. my wife ordered our power tongue jack from them for x-mas a few years ago.

X3 on the Reese Dual Cam. NEVER have a hint of sway. Heavy winds, 2 lane highways meeting semi's, you name it. Steady as a rock.

Reese hitch dual cam system used here as well. Been using the same system for 10-years with great experience. Trailer tows straight and true even when passing or being passed by semi trucks on the freeway. Built in anti-sway and load leveling. If purchasing ensure you purchase with proper weight bars based on your hitch weight requirement.

When I towed the TT before we went 5th wheel, I used an Equilizer Hitch. I bought the size hitch appropriate for the heaviest travel trailer I could tow with my truck. (At the time I was renting various sized campers). We did that for two years before we decided the fiver was what we really wanted.

(However we just got back from the Greater Philadelphia RV show and the new Prime Time LaCross could entice us back to TTs!)

The heavier sway bars of the 12,000 pound rated hitch made towing the 9,000 pound TT a "walk in the park."

Big Dawg,

This depends on what length Travel Trailer you have and the wheelbase of you Tow Vehicle. For example, I tow a 33 ft TT with a 132" wheelbase TV. This is by far the logest TT I have owned. My dealer sold me a Blue Ox Sway Pro (which I now have listed for sale) and stated I would be fine. I experienced more sway than I would prefer in windy conditions with that hitch no matter how I set it up. After finding this forum I learned to take the wheelbase of you TV in inches and divide by 5, this gives the longest length trailer in feet that you should tow. In my case I should stick to about 26 ft max. We love our Rockwood too much so after research I found a used Hensley Arrow. Now even though I am towing a TT that is too long for my TV I have no sway.

In summary, use the formula of divide TV wheelbase by 5 to get trailer length in feet and if you are below that in length of TT use a conventional friction sway control system. If you fall outside that formula get a Hensley or a ProPride hitch.
