Transmission cooler

I am towing my 21FBRS with a 2000 Silverado with the 4.8L engine. I know that my TV was not built with the Tow package or Transmission cooler. Would a transmission cooler be a wise install?

If so, are aftermarket brands okay (there are a few on etrailer). We tow mostly flats, but we are going to head to Pigeon Forge in Oct.

Also, is this a DIY project or worth the money to have someone else do it?

Aux trans fluid cooler is a good idea for all TVs. See the sticky transmission Oil temp thread.

My Suburban had the HD tow package and related updates but did not come with the aux trans fluid cooler. It had the trans cooler as part of the radiator but that's not enough for hot days or towing.

I added the aux trans cooler and even at 90 deg and towing my trans temp on the DIC is under 200 deg.
GM Tow rating is 5400 w/o cooler and 7900 w cooler.
