Transmission gauge wiring

I have a 2008 Expedition that I am trying to hook up a transmission temp gauge to. I had a jumper in fuse 35 in the fuse panel located in the pass side kick panel. This didn't work out as it took power from my electronics on the 4x4. Has anyone had a similar experience or know a better place to find a hot fuse with the key on?
The reason for the gauge to begin with is some worry on pulling our 2819ss which weighs in at 7700#. I am within Ford specs and have had no problems going to Colorado this year and Florida last year. I would just like to monitor trans temp. I would also be interested in hearing form others on what their transmission temp readings are.
Thanks
Sam

I use a Scangauge to monitor tranny and water temps. My stock tranny gauge is worthless. It is designed to show normal until about 230. My high is 206 reached this summer going from Bishop to Lee Vining in California at around 95,000 miles on the truck. I have been over 200 a half dozen times in 25K towing miles. Twice in CA, twice in CO, once in AZ and once in UT.

They make bluetooth monitors you can get through your phone now that are cheaper than the Scanguage.

X2. You can order a ScangaugeII online from Advance Auto using promo code TRT30. It will give you 30%off.
OR
If you get a Bluetooth OBDII adapter and download app Torque Pro or FORSCAN you monitor practically everything and check for pending codes that don't set off the check engine light.

They are both simple to hook up and can be used in other vehicles.
