Truck bed cover for 5th wheel

Are the 5th wheel hitches low enough to have a trip-fold tonneau cover?
I have a new Dodge Ram short bed and will have a new 5th wheel hitch installed in the bed (B&W). I don't want to drive around exposing the hitch to the elements when I'm not towing my trailer. What's my options? I would like to have something that will also cover some of my cargo in the bed if possible.

I put on a Retrax roll top cover. I'm very happy with it. It's not as water tight as I led myself to believe, but overall - it satisfies our need for a "trunk" with having 2 kids.

I use the Lund roll up. I have a toolbox in front of the 5th wheel, allows access. Been on for 5 years and still looks good.

I saw the ti-folds at the Dodge dealer, but they were like $2000. Must have been made out of gold : )

Find you a truck specialty shop. They will carry lots of different styles and price ranges. Later RJD

I have a bak flip fold up cover works fine. It all depends on your hitch. Some handles on the hitch extend upward

My Extang Trifold was too tall folded for my 2008 GMC Sierra Short Bed with Pullrite 3300 slider hitch with rails. There was only about 2 inches clearance in turns and on uneven ground the camper hit the top.

I finally bought a 3 inch lift kit for the 3300 and it works perfectly even in turns on uneven ground.

I use the extang full tilt/roll up. Have had it for several years, no issues. What I like is you can either roll it up or take the whole cover off in a minute, by yourself. Covers my hitch nicely..

I will say- if you have an extended pin box (which is what was standard on my fifth wheel), there are times that in turns the pin box rubs the inner rails of the cover. It's not often and I haven't figured out what is the situation.

I have been running a Bakflip F1 on my Ram short beds, 3 trucks now. Love it. With my Hijacker hitch I had to change the handle orientation. The B&W companion fits perfectly however.

No need to block your back window when towing either...

Nice and clean when closed

Not the cheapest out there by any means, but does have quality and longevity going for it.

My good friend has this cover and it leaks at every fold. He took the first one back and they installed another and it does the same thing.

That is unfortunate he had such a bad experience with his. I have not had such problems. What did he replace it with?

I use a slightly modified Undercover Hard Tonneau cover while towing and when not towing. Definitely NOT water tight, but it keeps everything out of sight towing and not towing.

He didn't replace it with anything. He is living with the leaks and says it's no big deal to him.

Truck bed cover for 5th wheel

When I was towing a 5th wheel, I just put a standard Truxedo roll-up cover on my short bed. It covered the hitch and only cost about $200. It's simple enough to put on yourself.
