Truck leans to drivers side

Hitched up my Silverado to my Wildcat for the 1st time yesterday. I noticed I had about an inch less bedrail clearance on the passenger side vs the drivers side. I took her for a test ride and went into a large parking lot. I put a level on the camper and found it to be level then on the truck to wich I found was leaning. I never noticed this on my previous truck (Ram). This leaning did not change with the bags inflated in the Silverado. I unhooked the camper and found even with the bags empty and nothing on the truck it sits 1 inch lower on the drivers side measuring to the rear wheel well. I assume the almost full fuel tank would be alot of the blame here. I have my bags ran off one feed perhaps I should seperate the bags and run a little more on the drivers side when towing? Most wouldnt care and an inch difference i'm kinda anal about stuff like this an inch seems like a big difference in clearance and I can see it when im in the drivers seat looking back.

Before doing much I would take it to a spring shop and have the springs arch checked and then rearched if needed.

I would be looking for a broken/weak spring. It is definitely not normal unless there is significantly more load on the drivers side.

Broken or weak spring, or the front torsion bars need adjustment.

? If you have a short bed 27 Gal fuel @6.8lbs per gal = 183 lbs. I haven't noticed a 1 inch drop on mine.

Have you inspected the rear spring pack on the L\H side for a broken spring. How about any front end work and maybe they didn't put enough tension on the torsion bar?

That's all I can think about.

I have to learn to type faster

I would agree that you need to have the springs checked out, the fuel tank full or empty should not be noticeable.

On the lighter side, you must remove mother in-law before checking heights. Lol

X2 also if one is broken,or otherwise compromised, I would highly recommend replacing both spring packs. A friend had a broken spring on rear or a f350,found a used one at junk yard, when it was installed,it was stronger than the old remaining spring,he chased the problem, until he found new spring packs. Then all was well. Just my. 2cts. !
Good luck and happy camping !!

Check the torsion bars they adjust very easily. It is pretty common to have one side an inch different than the other though.
You can also go thru and loosen all the bolts on both side suspensions and retighten them while sitting even- one side shackle may have been changed and tightened down with more load than the other, you never know.
We always replace truck springs in pairs just to help with even sag and rates.

But if it's only an inch, I'd live with it personally unless there was some other issue. Tire size fluctuation and pressures can make differences and sometimes oneside in the sun might make a difference.

Ok, I was wondering since others said this was not common, and in my experience it has been VERY common, so I just went and measured all 5 of our vehicles.

My d-max and dw's z71 tahoe- drivers side is 3/4" lower than pass. side. (This is at the rear, with fronts even. )
On 2 of my cars the drivers side is 1/4"- 1/2" lower.
The third car, dw's Impala, the pass side is 3/4" LOWER than the drivers side.

As I said in my last post, 1" +,- is no big deal, you will probably find variations on every vehicle.

I wouldn't even worry about it. To many variables to consider.

No bags just the wimpy springs that came on it...

Heck I've not even bothered to swap out the stock shocks for gas ones yet, poor ol'truck has just under 27.300 miles on it...

Poor thing.
Sounds like you put miles on trucks like me. Had mine 5.5 years and put 36k on it since then. Now my commuter car....about 25k a year.

Funny thing, it IS what I drive to work and back five days a week.
Two trips to Centralia WA., Two to OR, one to Portland and one to Newport.
and two trips to Tombstone, AZ. plus the run around miles.

Ok I bit!
Lf 39 1/4
Rf 38 3/4
Lr 42
Rr 41 1/2
Top of wheel wells, in muddy gravel, driveway. Leaning my head to left ,wind out of NW.
Na it doesn't mean anything. If the op is concerned have it checked at a reputable alignment shop. If a spring is broken ,you would most likely be able to see it.weak, probably not an issue, unladen, but with a large trailer,or 5r,it might be a handling problem in an emergency situation. IMHO
