Wally carries Def for $12.00 for 2.5 gallons, if they do not have it Autozone and advanced auto has it for a couple bucks more. Top mine Chevy off about every 1k miles, bottle last between oil changes at 5k. Also carry def with me on long trips. Had an issue in mountains, convinced was issue with elevation, where add def light came on. Still have a good bit of miles to add def before the reduced speed kicks in. I agree, like where the filler is, lessens the chance of mixing fluids. Level dip stick would be nice, guess GM saves a few bucks per unit on builds.

It's worse around here...

All the busses (Ambulances) used to be diesel - last few they've bought have been gas... So it can change shift to shift, what type of fuel you need.

Nothing like setting yourself up for failure!

In 6 pages this got way off the rails, which is fine.. I helped. I think I got one "works for me" on a Ford I think.

So my guess they are just short? Never really got the original question answered.. Unless I issued it! LOL

And I'll continue to be off the tracks..... Been out of the game for a while.. How to the fire trucks handle the def? We only ran 500 a year on the fire side. I can imagine the def would go bad?

Sorry op....ill help on getting off track again.
Do you guys with newer trucks not have a screen on your gauge cluster that shows def level? Cause my interim '15 Gmc 3500 does, with 2500 miles on it, it still showes "level ok". Im gonna get a jug just in case though.

Off subject a little bit, for you guys that pull a trailer, does your def consumption go up a lot? Someone told me it really drinks it pulling. Thanks in advance.

It goes in at a set amount per part of diesel. I'm sure some will post the def to diesel ratio. So yes it does go "up" because my mpgs goes from 19 to 13 mpg. I would not say it drinks it.

Thanks, taking a 2.5 jug of def fluid, truck has a 1000 miles on it. Have a 850 mile trip and don't want to trying find more of this stuff in a panic. Dealer topped off def tank when I picked it up. I watched, so, I guess it's all part of the learning curve.
