Tundra Pulling Flagstaff 30WTBSK

I am looking at a Flagstaff 30WTBSK (6950 lbs dry) and am planning on pulling it with a 2012 Tundra Crew Max. I am now pulling a 2011 Jayco 29BHS (5600 lbs dry) and the truck pulls it without any problems. I know the Flagstaff is under my weights.

Am just curious if others have that camper, how it pulls and how they like the camper itself. We saw it and we love the front bunks, the tons of room and the rear master bedroom is awsome. WE are just waiting to actually see one with the second door in the bathroom (they are moving the door out of the bedroom and into the bathroom). Which I think is great!!!! Any info would be great!!!!!

I pull with a Tundra. (see rig below)
I think what you should be looking at is the trailers GVWR not Dry weight.
Dry weight doesn't mean much and in some cases is the weight before any accessories are added.
And nobody travels completly empty, right?
Look at the GVWR of you trailer and see if that falls into the ratings of your truck.
My trailer is 8,600 lbs GVRW.
Well under the rating of the truck.
I have never weighed more than 8,000 at the scales so......I'm good in that aspect.
Pin weight is another issue.

I read your post in a hurry and didn't really answer your question did I?

I went and looked at the specs for the trailer.
Looks like you would be hanging about 36' off your bumper.
I would think that a VERY good hitch with anti-sway would be a must in this situation.
Maybe a Hensley Arrow????

We were looking at a pull trailer originally and I had the same concern.
I have a 31' trailer now but about 5' of that hangs over the bed so not really a good comparison.

The truck has plenty of power and brakes, no worries there.
(assuming you have the 5.7L)

That length has me a bit nervous.

I have a 2007 tundra 5.7. And a pull a 35 ft windjammer. I think total wt of trailer is 8600. And no issues pulling the camper with my truck.

I pull a 2003 Wildcat 27RL FW with my 2008 5.7L Tundra Crew-Max with no problems towing or stopping!

My 5r and I with the wife and dogs (full timers) pull our Flagstaff 8528 BHSS to AZ every winter from Chicago (leaving next week). The only issue was tires. P255/R7018 (stock) is not the tire for pulling a 5r. Up graded this year with LT265/70R18. A little stiffer ride but still loving the camp fires...

Strange that you should mention the tires. I tow with Michelin Cross Terrain P255/70R18 tires and have never had an issue with them in the stock size. What kind of issues have you had?

See pics.... Took it to the dealer because I had the low tire alarm light (knowing I needed tires). Their story is the tires are although stock (door sticker confirmed) are not recommended for towing my 5r. I am a full timer and tow state to state. I have researched P255's are approved for towing. I should have been pumping thoes puppies up to max pressure (44psi) while hitched up and rolling down them roads to limit tire flex. Now I run LT265's. I got such a great deal on a full set of Continentals from NTB $700.

WOW! I always check tire pressure and lugnut torque on the FW before a day of towing, I inflate my TV tires to 40psi as is indicated on the tire sidewall and 65psi on the FW tires. What brand of tire was that? My Tundra originally came with Bridgestone dueller's but at that time I was towing a 2008 Passport TTer, don't think I ever towed the FW with those tires though.

I have an 08 Crewmax limited. We just purchased a 2013 PRIME TIME TRACER 3150BHD at the end of the season and towed it home from Salt Lake City to Spokane, WA. 760 miles. The trailer is around 7000 pounds and it towed great! We encountered some high winds near Baker City Oregon (high wind area warning signs all along the highway there) and the trailer didn't budge. We really didn't have any sway/handling issues all the way home. As stated above, power and brakes are not an issue. If you are willing to push a little you can accelerate up nearly any grade.
We are using an equalizer hitch. Ask away if you have more questions.
