I had this happen to my 2010 at about 80,000 miles. I hope it doesn't happen again at 160,000 miles, right after the warrant expires! If you get into limp mode you can reset it a couple of times by disconnecting the battery.

Good to know. I also like knowing there's a work-around, bypass.

I could be wrong but I don't think the bypass is something that can be easily done on the side of the road. I think you have to purchase a device and install it. http://www.tundraheadquarters.com/bl...bypass-module/

That's how I read it also.

Quick followup. I had truck serviced at dealer about 60 miles from home. Both pumps and valves were replaced under the service bulliten, extended warranty at no charge. Runs like new now. Hope this information helps any others who develope the "limp" syndrome.

New sound under hood

Great info, thanks for the heads up; I never knew this about the Tundra and had a 2011 until about 3 weeks ago when I traded it in on a 2016. I've never had any issues with my Tundras. This explains the new sound when I turn off the truck. Sounds like a vacuum on the passenger side under the hood and runs for a few seconds after I turn it off. I've been wondering; Now I know...

Hmmm. My new pumps don't run after I turn off the engine. Only when I start it. Hope that's not a problem.

Listen closely and they will come on for just a second or two when you turn off engine , must be @ operating temp.

My wifes 2014 rav4 has a vac pump that comes on with veh off - i hear it in the early A.m. when I go outside to get into my Tundra - just a low buzzing sound from the driver side under body. Its in here owners manual - normal . Emissions/charcoal canister.

Thanks for the info - I had mine replaced a few months after new in 2012.

Did the dealer do a re flash of the cpu? After mine were replaced it was a while and toyota had a service campaign. After that was performed my air pumps kick on for a sec as soon as I turn of engine.
