Turned in My Gasser

Well guys.. bought a Chevy 2500 HD 6.0 Vortex to pull my 34reqs little over a year ago. Towed with it about 3200 miles this spring and summer, pulled fine. Observed what was pulling 5ers into the various campgrounds we stayed at. Mostly diesels. Talked to alot guys who told me my towing experience will be much better with a diesel under the hood. So
I took the leap and they were right. Got me a Duramax 6.6 with an Allison Trans and
I just wanted to tell everyone
I am now a diesel guy. LOL
Rock on.

Best decision I've made. Will never go back to a gas truck. Congrats!

sweet, most gassers think they have enough truck untill they tow with a diesel then they know it is not. it sure is nice sitting on 6th gear all day long even in the hills

I tow with a 2500 suburban 8.1 liter with 4.10 gears rated to pull 14000 lbs. camper weighs 4500 overkill? No such thing just more comfortable with gas cause that's what I know. Gas mileage? Wouldn't have bought if I cared. Never know when a bigger camper will come along. Just a post from a guy that's happy with gas and likes to ruffle feathers now and again

Next on the list is get to a Chebby Diesel Forum and MOD that baby out.... 'WE' don't want just 'a better towing experience'.... 'WE' want a 'Pera-Grin' on that face....

LOL...I have about an inch of clearance getting through the door opening, but hey an inch is as good as mile as long as it doesn't hit right.

nice truck. we are looking at trading our ford psd (piece of s#%# diesel) in on the Chevy gasser with 4.10 axle. we are looking to also get a 34 Reqs or 33rets at some point in the future. did it tow ok on the hills? I don't want to struggle going up and down mountains. Just can't justify the cost of another diesel for 1x month towing. besides the fact that all the issues we've had with our ford have soured us to diesels and made us swear off ford.

ps do you know your loaded pin weights? that would be hugely helpful in my truck decisions.

What seems to be your truck issues. You go to a camper forum for camper advice, have you been to a truck forum for your trucks...'advice'....

brother les... yes I've been to FTE. Not much help. the ford has been in and out of the shop at least half dozen times since I bought it a year and a half ago. Now it is back in the shop with a possible stuck turbo or fuel injector problem (still waiting on diagnosis). Tired of the issues with it. That's why I want to bail on it. Not looking for truck advice other than the OP experience with his previous truck towing same or similar 5er to what I'm looking at for my next trailer.

Humm, that rules out the lift MOD and the bigger tire MOD..... can you make your door 'taller'?
