I myself can't wait to get the Michelins of my new GMC. They are so bad in the wet and snow. I will be putting Generals or Firestones when they wear out.

When my Oem tires wore out at 28000 miles I replaced them Cooper HT3 E rated 10 ply tires. I bought a new tv in 2014 and had the dealer take the cheap factory tires off and swapped out for the tires on my 2011 ( the coopers). They had 6000 miles on them. I now have 21000 miles on the 2014 and the tires are still in great shape. The are quiet and ride nice for a 10 ply. I live in Rochester NY and hav e no problem with the snow but we only get 10 or 12 feet of snow here. It looks like these tires should last another 20000 miles or so. I will definitely buy again. $880 out the door at Mavis tire. My wheels are18 in.

That has been my experience as well. That long mileage may be due, in part, to harder rubber compound.

Not sure if you have a store near your location but it might be worth looking into. I just had a set of Michelin LTX A/T installed on my 2500HD about 2 weeks ago at BJ's Wholesale Club for $890. Here is the link - https://m.bjs.com

Yep, either link will work to locate the nearest store location.

I will say I do have OEM michelins on the truck. They only have 37000 miles on them and are bald as the day is long. They are past the point of being unsafe so I have to do this before my next camping outing in October. I found a good price on the coopers at a locally owned tire shop. I think I'm going to go with them. Thanks everyone for your input.

Tire design is a never ending trade off of performance in various categories. They best snow tire is likely to wear out very fast and also have poor dry weather handling characteristics. Likewise, a long lasting "highway tire" is going to suck in the snow. You didn't mention any models for any of the three brands, but I can assure you that Michelin, General and Firestone all make tire models that are "so bad in the wet and snow", as well as models that work great in the snow (but suffer in other areas of performance).

In other words...your tires are the wrong model for your needs as opposed to the wrong brand.

True dat. One of the best compromise tires I have run across is Nokian. Lots of siping for wet and ice traction.

I saw falken wildpeak at3w for $754 mounted and balanced. At that price I have to ask... Anybody out there using these? How are they with daily driving and towing? Reviews are few and don't address towing. The only online reviews I can find are articles and they are fairly positive but don't address what I really need to know. Thanks!
I run wildpeak at3w. Have about 2k miles on them. They are an at / mt hybrid. Make a little noise but not annoying. Seem to have good traction in the wet and are wearing good. 55k mile warranty I believe. Towed to TN and back with them...about 1000 miles round trip. No complaints
