And the IBC is WAY better than the Prodigy.

I forgot to mention that my truck did not come with the brake controller. I had the dealer install it a few months later.
You will need to get tow mirrors too.

"I don't want to ever get stuck pulling anything... "
It's not that 4X4's don't get stuck...they just get stuck in worst places! But I see your point...

Get the integrated brake controller. It is the smoothest most consistent controller I have used, by far. The tow mirrors are worth every penny too! You will be fine with the 5.0 I pulling twice as much weight as you with a 5.4

Mine's a 2011 F-150 Supercab with the 5.0, 6-speed, and 3.55 axle. I get 17.5 or so around Amarillo, and have gotten 21 on road trips. Came home last week with a new TT and 1/2 tank of fresh water... about 5200#. No troubles and got 12+ mpg towing at 65 mph. I went with the 5.0 because the mileage and towing figures just were not worth the extra cost and complexity of all that turbo equipment... Yes, I still work on my own truck...

4x4 Sierra Crew Cab 6.0 and Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller. Pulls our 8312SS pretty well.

The 2012 Ecoboost will have the 36 gallon gas tank. I'm pretty sure the 2011 has the 26 gallon. This was the main reason I waited and got a 2012.
There are other upgrades in the 2012 also:
Adjustable headrests
4x4 Auto setting
I'm sure there are others, I just can't think of them right now...

I have an 11 Ecoboost 4x4, 373 rear end, and tow package with 6,000 miles on it and live in Florida. Great truck, pulls and rides great BUT gas milage is way overstated. Towing my Work and Play 18 EC at 60 I get about 8 and change MPG. Dealer tells me that is what preople are getting. City milage is about 16 and highway milage driving at 55-60 is near advertised around 20. Highway milage at normal driving of 70-75 is around 16 MPG. I really baby the truck and I have tried all driving styles to try to improve. Others I talk to get about the same.
Again, great truck, pulls really well, but I am really disappointed in the milage.

Mark, that is about what I get with my 2012 Supercrew, 4x4, 3.73 Max Tow, Ecoboost.
21 MPG on the highway (60MPH, no hills)
17 MPG roads with few stop sign/traffic lights
15 MPG in town (traffic lights every mile)
To me, for a 2 1/2 ton truck that is not too bad. Towing my 625D (3000lb) pop-up gives about 3 MPG less.

Transamz9, you also paid the diesel engine up charge and get the HD truck ride when your empty. Most people don't haul what you what you do, but you got the stuff so you need the beast to pull it. Thumbs up and have fun.

I will also get that "diesel charge" back when I sell. The diesel trucks sell for 8-10,000 more used also. I see I your avatar that you have a fiver. It would benefit you also.
I just spent a little money on my HD truck and It rides as good as a 1/2 ton truck now and will haul way more weight.
I'm not trying to make this a "my truck is better than your truck" thread so please don't take it that way. I am just stating the facts. I think the new F150's are very very sexy trucks! I would just give the Eco some more time to prove itself.

Take a nice look at the Tundra. She is mean. I get 17 hwy, 15.3 city. Towing a 6500 lb TT I get 8.5-9. Gobs of power. I towed my friends 10800 lb TT with no issue from the lot to my house (5 miles). Just a thought from left field.

Riiight and then you woke up. I don't have one and probably won't buy one but just drove my neighbors and u can't buy a car with those amenities and price for 32k. It's all relative based on price and what your needs and price point is. He went from a tundra to this.....

Decided on the 2012 Ford F-150 4x4 5.0L V-8 SuperCrew with Tow Pkg. Rated for 7700lbs. This should be a great TV for many years if I can afford to keep that 36 gallon tank filled up :-)
Thanks to everyone who contributed by sharing your thoughts and experience...!

Congrats on the new ride! It will be much better than the SUV you had. I hope it gives you many years of enjoyment and good camping memories.
