TV Preference... thinking about Ford F-150?

I plan to replace my 6-cylinder 250HP SUV rated for 4500lbs in a couple of weeks with a truck to pull my 4,000 lb (loaded) Rockwell 1809s TT. I'm thinking about buying a Ford F-150 Crew 4x4 with 5.0L V-8 and 5'6" bed.

I'm interested in hearing what other folks would prefer if buying 2011 or 2012 model truck? I'm currently getting about 8.5MPG with the SUV... what shoud I expect with the Ford F-150?

Suggest you look at a 2012 F150 ecoboost with max payload and max tow options. You can get a crew cab with a 6.5' box.

It has more capacity than you need at present but leaves lots of room when you upgrade the camper to something bigger.

i would expect 10-12 mpg with the F-150, especially since you live in Florida.

by the way, i'm sure many would like to know why you decided to make a change in tow vehicles.

The Ecoboost specs look great... more than I need. Drove one yesterday and is a little quicker than the 5.0L V-8 with more HP/Torque.

I'm leaning more to the 5.0L V-8 simply b/c it's $1100 cheaper... trying to get the options I really need and not have to pay extra for anything I don't. This means 4x4, 4-door, tow pkg and the DW wants leather seats and a running board to make it easier for her to get in/out.

So far I'm more impressed with the Ford than the Chevy, Nissan or Toyota...

If your like anyone else, you'll change your camper more often than your tow vehicle., therefore buy enough truck for the next one.

Doesn't the ecoboost deliver better non-towing fuel mileage than the 5.0 V8?

Have you drive a new Dodge Ram yet? IF you like the Ford you will probably love the Dodge.

Eco boost V6 only gets 1 MPG better than the 5.0L V8, but it's 4MPG better than the 6.2L V8. I'd be happy with either Eco or 5.0L... just trying to save $$$.
