WD hitch. In relation to my other thread I went from a 1000lb Eaz-lift to a 1400 lb Ultra-fab.

Sorry one more question on the hitch...my original 1000lb hitch chain saddles fit snug to the trailer tongue with a short bolt to tighten....my new 1400lb saddles extend out about 2" with a longer 4" bolt to tighten to the frame so there is about a 2" gap between the back go the trailer frame and the back piece of the saddle. (Hope this makes sense).
Is this acceptable?

They should be fine. They are wider, in order to accept a beefier tongue width. If you're uneasy about them, you probably can use your previous saddles.

i consider UF's WDHs as entry-level and old tech.
anything that uses a add-on friction anti-sway bar is old technology and bigger hassle than WDH's like the Equal-i-zer or Anderson.

I assumed as much but wanting to be able to afford to camp along with buying all my mods and upgrades takes time lol!

To be honest, that's the only style (chain bar and friction sway) I've ever used. But then, I never traveled great distances with my TTs either , so it was a no brainer for me.

It's been a while since I've had a TT, but I'm almost certain, there was a gap. There's not much load on the back side of the saddle, and the bolt is basically there to hold it in place.

Nothing wrong with the old standalone WDH and add-on sway control. I don't think I would upgrade just to upgrade. But if upgrading from a popup (for example) to something that needs WDH, getting integrated sway control is only a minor cost increase (Equa-l-izer or Dual-Cam), and worth it for simplicity.
