Yes there are some good deals out there it just depends on your area. I'll will go the slightly used route for my next truck too. Local dealerships are full of $70k or more F250/F350 in my area.

It is like anything, if you have to have it today it will cost you more, but if you can wait and look around you can find a deal. Just never let them know you need immediately.

There are some great youtube videos on the changes to the Ford super duty trucks, why 2011 is a key date for diesel trucks, the Airstream website on their changes to their heating system and the internet in general on RV heating systems.

Sorry, not to get off the truck focus, but here is the response from the Airstream dealer I received today that clarifies that only the 2017 Airstream has the new heating system. She had represented to me the 2016 had it as well.

High end diesel pushers have had the hydronic heating systems for quite a few years.

"First of all, I want to apologize... you were right :-) The hydronic heating is a 2017 upgrade. The 2017 also has tank heaters, a heated shower floor and towel bar, the Firefly multiplex system (the upgraded electronics you were referring to), a power awning (now standard), a rear view camera, USB ports right at the sofa and enhanced speakers."

Because of the hydronic heating and upgraded electronics, I may yet splurge on a new Airstream 30 footer classic 2017.

Same as the 2017 Ford F250 major changes in the aluminum body, changes in springs/etc. for ride ability, and new electronics...but might wait until 2018 just to be sure all the new model major change year issues, if any, have been taken care of.

Meanwhile a few international travel trips can take care of my traveling urges.

"Philos3 I'm so confused *"

Since you didn't state what is confusing you, you can't expect me to respond. (smile)

If, on the other hand, that is a general state of being, I am not qualified to assist.

Personally, my mind is of sparkling clear clarity and getting better like a fine wine.

Having fun!!!

We have pulled large trailers with both gas and diesel. The last was a 15,000 lb 40 foot, four slide Jayco Pinnacle fifth wheel. Followed like a dream. We pulled it all around Montana and Idaho as well as to Laughlin a number of times. That 6.7 handled it like a dream. You're going to be glad you have cruise control, or else you'll be headed down the road faster than you should....

Nice! We bought our 1st 5th wheel Cardinal 3030rs, 12500 dry, so knew we needed umph...we found our 2011 Sierra Denali HD 3500 diesel. Admit, not new like yours, but spotless in and out, shiny black, loaded and 77,000 miles so has a ton of life in her yet. Floats down the road towing like a dream. So glad we chose more power as well. You'll love the gliding.

Love it going up AND down the hills

Our 6.7 is a beast. It handled the hills of Pennsylvania this summer with ease - both on the uphill side but also on the downhill side. The engine braking is a powerful force to hold back the trailer that is pushing you down the hill.

There was no way I was going to buy a new F250 diesel, with prices well above $55,000. So, I went looking for a late model used truck. My local Ford dealer just happened to have one I could get into for under $40,000.
So, I bought a slightly used, 2016, F250 crew cab, 4x4, diesel. It had just 5,500 miles on it when I drove it off the lot. Original owner bought it, could not afford it, and quickly traded it back in on a small car. The dealer had it on the lot 5 months, and could not get it sold because it is an XL trim model. Everyone around here wants trucks "loaded" with accessories.
Hey, for the price, I can live with rubber floor mats. It does have power locks/windows, and tilt /cruise, A/C, upgraded cloth seats, and a nice radio/CD player. What else do you really need.
Now, I can climb those big hills at 65MPH, instead of 50MPH.

Is that a short bed the 6 1/2 foot bed. Reason I am asking is I am in the process of buying new 5 th wheel. Have a 2016 f250 6 1/2 bed some have concern about the short bed. What kind of hitch you have is it a slider. Any info thanks

My trailer is a bumper-pull, not a 5th wheel. My truck is a short bed. I do plan to pull a 5th wheel some day in the future. From what I read, a slider is just about required to pull one with a short bed, to prevent possible cab corner damage.

We have the 5th wheel 12,500 dry 36 ft 2015 Cardinal 3030rs and pull with 2011 Sierra Denali 3500 1 ton diesel...yes, 6-1/2 ft bed. Cardinal has nice angled corners for turning and YES we have the B&W slider hitch. Absolutely no problem with this combination. We use all right up to the 90 degrees to put away on pad next to our shop. Never touches....the hitch is wonderful. B&W slider is very easy to use and secures really nice. We had installed in out truck by our rv dealer FUNTIME RV, TUALATIN. They're great.

Most new 5th wheels are made so that they won't bag the cab under normal circumstances. However, I have towed back and forth across the country try twice now and have learned that you never know what you will run into. I have a 2014 6.7 with the 6.5 ft bed and decided to go with a slider hitch just to be safe. I got a PullRite SuperGlide hitch and although it is more expensive and heavier than manual sliding hitches I am very happy. I know that when I go to make a tight maneuver the hitch will slide back on its own and I don't have to worry. It is also worth noting that a guy I worked with had an almost identical truck trailer combo without a sliding hitch and was going through a traffic circle when he busted out his back window. For me it's worth the money to not have to worry about it.

Capt Murica,
So yours slide automatically that's what I want. Don't want to have to guess when I might need it. Just have it do what needs to be done when needed. What kind do you have so I can do some research and find a dealer near me.

Thank you

Yes. When you turn more than a certain angle (I think 20 deg) the hitch automatically starts to slide backwards, and when you straighten up it moves back to the original location. It's a PullRite SuperGlide 16k. I didn't have a hitch before so getting the whole package (hitch, rails, mounting brackets, and install) at the dealership it ran just shy of $2k but it looks like the price of the hitch itself has dropped substantially since I got mine. Here is a link to a video that shows how it works.

Really nice truck and you got a great deal. I think anyway. You're going to love having a diesel. Just IMHO diesel is the only way to go for 3/4 ton or above for pulling RVs. I don't know if you've pulled with it yet, but after you do, you'll know what I mean.
