They must be upgrading the ones here because the tandems are all over the place now. Where is Ralph Nader when you need him? Talk about "Unsafe at any speed"
No worries, but if you do want to bring a few cold ones up north feel free, but be aware it'll cost you at the border . On second thought, I'll pay the duty.

We know FT Turbs stays away for any and all aspects of authority, even dog catchers give him the hibby jibbys. Shoot, even a 6 yr old with a toy sheriffs badge will give him the sweats and make him start hunting a place to hide.

Where do you folks get this idea of having to go into an open scale. I have been trucking for 37 yrs and believe me unless you are a commericial operation whether hauling frieght or 5th wheel trls you do not need to go into a scale period . You are on vacation . There is no law that says you cannot go into a closed scale to check
your weight. Unless therr is a sign posted saying do not enter. Just remember you are not a commercial transport business. So no scale.
Anyone tells you different thet are full of it!

I have to weigh (no bun intended) on the
subject, some truck scale's leave their scales on
so they can be used. I have over the years used
a number of them when closed to check my
weight on my semi truck and trailer to make sure
I was legal. This is one of the reason's they
are left on so you can do such, it is not in any
way trespassing. Yes you can pay at a cat scale
to weigh, but there are at times no cat scales
around every corner and if you run up on a state
weight scale that is close why not use it. Of
Course they ask you not slide your trailer axles
while on the scale (this is common sence) and
they will get really mad if they see you doing
such. I can say that I have over a few million
miles in a semi pulling single and double trailers
and have never told I could not use a state
scale when closed, this is unless it was under
some type of constuction or blocked and then
they are posted. Also in some states they will
post that they do not want any travel trailers
across their scale when open, in fact you may
get a ear full in doing such that you will never
forget.

YMMV
then your not looking, may scales let trucks park overnight as
long as they do not interfer with there operation. Many have
parking lots behind the scale for a safe haven

Great logic.

There's also no sign saying..
Were closed but go ahead and use the scale.

Why wouldn't u just ask them to use it while there open?
Oregon has stated before that there scales are left on for the simple reason for people to use. IT is not "trespassing"

You couldn't read it if it were furnished unless it had pictures and Ms. Amy explained the pictures to you.

Don't really understand your concern, you don't pay any attention to posted signs,(speed limits, don't drink & drive, etc.) let alone un-posted ones.

I don't think anybody is talking about having to go on an open scale. What they have been talking about is using closed DMV/DOT/etc scales to weigh their RV instead in lieu of finding a paid public scale.

I don't think it's cheapskates. It could be Sunday or there is no public scale in your area. For whatever reason hitting a closed weigh station can give you a quick weigh and is right on the route you are driving.

FTR we paid the 10 bucks yesterday and I have *no* idea what all those numbers mean. Sneak claims he does though, and says we're way good to go.

P.S. WHY the heck do they have the call button 8' ft off the ground? Sneak ain't short by any stretch of the imagination and he dang near had to find a bucket to stand on.

Edit to add: yeah, I know the big rigs are tall, but it didn't appear a big rig driver could have reached that button while sitting in the driver's seat....to far to reach.
