Versa Haulers

Does anyone have any experience with Versa Haulers for carrying light (185lb) scooters on the back of their motor homes or trailers?

Gilm...they are well regarded and make a fine product that will hold up over time.
I am carrying a PAIR of scooters in lieu of a Toad...totaling over 500 lbs and was all set to use the Versa Haul after a lot of research. Unfortunately...the width allowed between the 2 scooter tracks was a couple of inches too skinny for my wide bodied Vespa & Stella.
I went with joehauler.com for my specific needs and he was superb..see pics ...in putting together a rack that worked for me. Check out his site as well as his hitch tightening in receiver device really is neat and works well and he has lots of models that handle standard loads.
Don't know what KIND of scoots you have but check out all the specs for FIT and clearance from your rear end (ladder etc.) before you order ...not just weight and build. The other thing I would tell you is to get the LONGEST built in ramp you can with the hitch rack. Scoots have low clearance and you want a gentle slope as it is no fun to wrestle with 200lbs. hung up at the top of the ramp! Mine is 7 feet and that is about minimum for the height of my Georgetown receiver. If you have a lower receiver you could get by with less.
My total carry weight on my GT280DS is over 600 lbs so I had to upgrade to a class 4 hitch to handle over 500 lbs of tongue weight...but I am experiencing NO issues in handling carrying that much off the back of the rig. I'm sure that could vary based on overhang from the rear axle but I wouldn't expect any problems with a 2-300 lb total load on any classA. Can't advise at all on trailers.
Hope this helps! Pix here: http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...own-67485.html

They are one of the best hitch style motorcycle carriers on the market. I don't have one, but a friend does. I have looked at others (which are flimsy) and the Versahaul is very nice.
