Walmart Oil changes

I just had the oil changed in my Jeep toad. I watched them and they don't pull the drain plug any more! They use a pump to pump it from the dipstick hole.
That does not drain all the impurities. I guess I'll be changing my own oil from here on out! No wonder they want you to change your oil every 3,000 miles. I use Mobil 1 synthetic so I go until the jeep says to change.

A lot of oil change places have started to do this, liability over leaking or cross threaded drain plugs.

That's the way they change the oil on an inboard motor on a boat and that motor is a car motor with some added parts for cooling.

Inboard is done that way out of necessity To hard to get under motor to access plug.
I will stick to old school The best suction available will not get the crud off the drain plug magnet of lying in the bottom of the oil pan.

X2. As far as leaking or cross threaded oil pan plugs, I use a Kwik Kar place for my oil changes and they let the vehicle idle for 5 minutes after changing oil before releasing it to make sure there are no leaks.

No problems yet.

Kwik Kar robbed me last time there... so it will definitely be... the last time there. Charged me $84- for a fuel filter I can buy at NAPA for $11.95. Told me they had both fuel filters and had only one of them... but charged me labor for both. Went back to speak to the manager, twice, and he was conveniently never around.

Get one of these....
Fumoto USA | Quick and Easy Engine Oil Drain Valves

Had one on my Hummer H3 for about four years, and never had a problem or a leak. Of course the drain was above a 1/4 in steel shield, but it sure made draining oil easy as heck. Might put one on my Silverado...

Probably not a Walmart problem; a California problem.

YOU PAY ATTENTION!!!
"Los Angeles County, also known as L.A. County, officially the County of Los Angeles, is a county in the U.S. state of California."

From your info under your avatar...
SOCAL - disambiguation for Southern California.

So, it is pretty easy to believe you live in California and LA county is in California so yes, I paid attention.

And as you attempted to do, I tried to add a little humor to the subject. I guess we both failed.

And sorry it hurts to mention that you live in CA. I can totally understand that.

SO CHILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I wouldn't have them change my oil either!

Have a nice day...................

Let's not escalate an argument over something of little importance. Let it go.

Tried to get an oil change at Walmart recently and they reported they couldn't get the filter off. Went 2 blocks down to time-it-lube and they had no problem.

The fact that every Walmart in the country. Has a bunch of young kids working at them. It's fine but they don't really give any extra effort either this may be why they couldn't get your filter off. Went to ours once for an oil change took over an hour. Won't do that again. But they did pull the plug and drain it. Just my two cents

Up here in the GREAT white north, Walmart gave up their lub depts and now have a Mr Lube at them. Mr Lube is owned by the same guy who owns Boston Pizza, Mr Jim Treliving.

Friday took my Ram into dealership (Parks Motors) for a oil change. When I got home could smell burning oil. Opened the hood and they spilled oil all over the left side of engine. Looked underneath and oil was still dripping off the frame...
